DIY No-Cook Halloween Treats

IMG_8475
It’s taken a while, but I’ve finally got this blog post up, the day before Halloween! I posted the video on HGTV Handmade over a week ago, but between my hard drive breaking and going out of town for Buffer Festival, I haven’t had a chance to edit the photos to go with the video until now. But, it’s not too late, so keep reading to watch the DIY video and learn how to make these easy No-Cook Halloween treats for yourself!

The reason the photos in the thumbnail are so blurry is because I had to use screenshots from the video, since my hard drive broke right after getting this video uploaded, and I had to publish it before I got my hard drive back from the computer repair store. I think people still liked it, but I was so sad not to have any of my high-quality photos I spent so long taking!

But, I have the photos now, so on to the projects. The first project I came up with was a jack-o-lantern candy bowl. It’s so easy to make – just make a face for the “pumpkin” out of chalkboard tape, make a green stem attached to a coffee stirrer, and fill it up with orange candy! I think this would be perfect for your desk at work to treat your co-workers to candy all day.

There are two throwbacks in this project – you might have recognized the green sparkly paper on the stem from my DIY Sims Diamond costume from last year. The paper I cut the stem out of still has all the triangle cut outs from that exact project! And the wine bottles in the background are also from a DIY video last year, and I love that I can keep re-using them as decorations!

Probably my favorite project of all is these mummy chocolate bars. They’re really easy to make and who doesn’t love getting a full-size chocolate bar on Halloween??

Just look at those little eyes peeking out from behind the crepe paper. I love it!

And finally, the last project is DIY Gravestone Hot Chocolate Packets. I think this one also came out really cute, and it’s a nice change from a pile of candy to get some hot chocolate to start off the colder season.

I ended up cutting down some fake grass that I got at the dollar store to fit in a baking pan, and then I stood up all the “gravestones” in the grass and peppered in some Body Parts Candy. It’s almost too pretty to give away all the pieces!

One more shot of the hot chocolate from the back. I think I need to go make myself a cup right now…

This is also the first video I shot in my new apartment, and I loved getting to show off my new, gorgeous kitchen. I think my roommate may have been a little annoyed because all the decorations I put up definitely got in the way of common tasks like opening cabinets or using the stove, but I think it was worth it for how fun the video came out.

I also experimented with my new camera remote control to do an impromptu photoshoot in my kitchen. You don’t even want to know how many photos like this I took!

If you scrolled past the video earlier, you can watch it on HGTV Handmade right here. And stay tuned to this blog for posts about my DIY Halloween Desk Decor and DIY Ice Cream Cone & Cupcake Costumes, coming very soon! Happy Halloween!
