For today’s Christmas craft video, I decided to show some creative ways to wrap presents. I think I might like wrapping gifts even more than shopping for them. It just shows the person that you’ve put a lot of thought and effort into their present if you’ve also taken the time to present it well. For this video, I showed how I wrapped the actual Christmas presents I got for my dad and my sister as well as a box set of books that Sanne (booksandquills) sent me to review on this blog, which I’ll do as soon as I read them! Keep reading for more photos of the three ideas I came up with!
For the first gift, I decided to wrap it in an old map with a double bow of wide translucent white ribbon and thin yellow ribbon. Then to keep the travel theme going, I attached a little plane toy and made a gift tag out of the same map.
I made the gift tag by cutting the shape out of white cardstock, then using double stick tape to stick it to the map. I cut that out and then did the same thing to the other side to get a double-sided map gift tag. From there you can just write the To and From with Sharpie.
I used a hole punch to put a hole in the gift tag and then just wrapped the yellow ribbon around the gift tag and jump ring to hold them in place.
The map has such a nice texture when you look at it through the ribbon.
The next gift I wrapped is the Christmas gift for my dad. I wanted to make this one a bit more simple and graphic, so I went without a bow and instead made the main focus the large helvetica typography that I cut out of cardstock.
I wrapped the gift in silver tissue paper and then made a stripe pattern with thin silver tape. I love the subtle pattern it creates that looks different depending on the angle you look at it.
For the typography, I printed the type with a light gray outline backwards on cardstock, cut it out with an x-acto knife, and then hot glued it on.
I love how you can see a bit of a mirror in the wrapping paper since the type doesn’t lay perfectly flat.
For my sister’s present, I brought some color back in by wrapping it in green tissue paper and creating a striped pattern with green artist’s tape. I created a focus corner with some wide silver ribbon and a big silver bow.
I made the gift tag out of an old price tag, and tied a jingle bell onto it for extra effect.
Thanks so much for reading! I really hope my family likes their gifts, and I hope you got some inspiration for how you’re going to wrap your gifts!
