My video today is a crafting collaboration with Ashley (paperpastels) which we shot at YouTube NextUp! I had the idea to go to Michaels and shop only on the sale rack, and then see what kind of craft project we could come up with using only the stuff we bought that day (and a few basic craft supplies I brought along). Our best find was these 50 cent birdhouses that we decided to decorate for the video!
We went in different directions for the roofs of our birdhouses – Ashley covered hers in gold leaf we found on sale for $1.75, while I put bright green flowers and washi tape onto the top of mine.
I actually took the flowers apart and put multiple pedals onto each plastic center piece to make the flowers super fluffy. And isn’t this washi tape so cute? I found that on sale too!
These rhinestones were just something I had, but I think they add a nice touch of bling to the design. It almost looks like something you’d find on the shelf at Claires.
Ashley decided to cover her birdhouse in pink washi tape, and she also glued on this gold letter and star, both of which we found on the clearance rack.
Similarly, I monogrammed mine with a letter that was attached to a set of notecards I got for 50 cents. I wish I could have found one that had a K on it, but we can just pretend the bird is named Emily or something.
Be sure to check out my video and subscribe to Ashley’s channel for more fun cute craft projects. This video was really fun to make and I hope you guys liked it too!
