Full Christmas Decorations Tour ~ Holiday 2016

tour_banner
Today is the day that I take you on a full tour of my Christmas decorations! Along with the TEN (!!!) DIY projects that I shared in this video and this video last week, I have more quick decorating hacks to show you today, so keep reading to check out photos of all my favorite parts of the room!

tree
Of course we have to start with the tree. My first two hacks are in the form of rules I set for myself – No Red and No Ornaments. I decided to put away all of my red decorations this year, and instead concentrate on green and metallics, and I think the room looks modern and clean.

And then because I have a random collection of ornaments that don’t really go together, I decided to just deck the tree with tinsel this year. I think it looks streamlined and classic, and at night the lights reflecting off the tinsel is the most beautiful thing in the world.

wrapped_gifts
A little hack I’ve been doing for a while now is to wrap up board games as presents under the tree. Since my roommate and I don’t really exchange gifts, this is a good way to fill up space and get in the spirit of Christmas without having to spend a fortune on new gifts.

pom_pom
This is one of my favorite hacks – disguise your wine bottles with scrapbook paper! The wine bottles we have out on display are all different colors, so to keep them consistent with the theme, I taped pieces of metallic paper around all of the labels.

cookbooks
If you’ve got cookbooks on display that don’t match your decor, just cover them in craft paper the same way you would cover textbooks in school, and then stamp the name of the book on the spine so you know which is which. I love this so much I’ll probably leave them like this all year long!

cabinets_mug
To add a bit of color to the decorations, I always love having candy canes out on display, especially these neon ones! The mug is from Target a year or two ago. You can also see a fishbowl filled with ornaments in the back, which is another quick and festive decoration!

pillows
I made the couch super cozy this year by covering the back with a fluffy faux fur blanket and then piling it high with festive pillows.

centerpiece
The dining room centerpiece is super simple – just a wood slab from Michaels with a faux berry branch and a sequined elephant from Target.

dresser
I always love dressing up the top of this dresser! I made both pieces of artwork in the back, and a lot of the decorations in front are from Target.

snowglobe
My favorite part of the dresser has to be this snowglobe. It’s so geometric and minimalist that you could keep it on display all year long. And it was only about $15 at Target!

marble_tray
I always keep this marble tray next to the TV, but for Christmas I dressed it up with some faux glitter candles and bright green bottlebrush trees, both from Michaels. If you wait for their amazing coupons to kick in, you can get this stuff for cheap!

And finally, my last decorating hack is to hide shelving units by hanging curtains with tension rods. To make it extra Christmasy, I also covered this one with Perler bead ornaments, which I think is subtle but very festive.
