DIY Snapchat-Inspired Photobooth Props

grid
It’s my week again on HGTV Handmade, and today I’ve got a really fun craft for you – DIY Photobooth Props inspired by Snapchat! I think these are so fun, and perfect for prom or a wedding, so keep reading to learn how to make them.

The first thing you’ll want to do is download the pattern PDF and print it out. Then follow the steps in the video above to piece them all together using either craft foam like I used, or scrapbook paper if that’s easier for you to get. You’ll also need dowels to glue onto the back so you can hold them up.

One word of warning – if you’re using craft foam, don’t use Gorilla Glue! It kind of looks like an experiment gone wrong in a mad scientist’s laboratory.

The first project in the pattern is the 100 emoji. For this one, just use a pencil to transfer the pattern onto craft foam, cut out all the pieces, and glue them together. So easy!

For the heart eyes, I took a pair of 3D glasses I had spray painted for my Rainbow DIYs video last year, and I just glued the hearts onto them. If you don’t have spare glasses frames on hand, you can always just attach dowels to the hearts and hold them up in front of your eyes.

I think the lips emoji came out so cute! For this one, you really only have to be careful cutting out the actual lips, and then just layer the white teeth and black shape behind it.

The tears can be used to make a single emo tear, or to make the crying while laughing face.

I think the ghost might be my favorite of the bunch. It’s so fun to look through in photos, and you can customize it to your own Snapchat code!

Of course I had to make the rainbow puke. I love how colorful it is!

If you look at it from the top, you can see how the colors are layered so we don’t have any gaps between them.

And finally, I also made a “caption bar” using cardboard covered in chalkboard tape. This one is probably the easiest of them all!

I hope you guys liked this project, and let me know in a comment on the video what other emojis you would also want to turn into photobooth props. Be sure to stay tuned to HGTV Handmade on Wednesday for another DIY video from me and on Friday for a full tour of my craft supplies!
