DIY Custom Jenga Game

Today I want to share an idea I’ve had for ages now and only just a chance to make the video for. It’s custom Jenga, where you number the pieces and then can play it as a homework game, an exercise game, a drinking game, or Truth or Dare. Keep reading to learn exactly how it works and watch the video which features Liam Dryden!

I made this video for our All Request August month on HGTV Handmade. We’re taking your requests all under the umbrella of Back to School, so I thought a homework game like this would be perfect for my first video. We’re also changing up the schedule for the month so each of us gets an entire week rather than each girl getting a specific day. So I have three videos coming out on Handmade this week (as well as two on my main channel – busy week!), so stay tuned on Wednesday and Friday for even more Back to School videos.

The first step in making your custom Jenga game is an optional one and that is to color the edges of the pieces. I decided to paint the edges of mine with metallic gilding paint to make a super luxe Jenga game while Liam colored the ends of his with Sharpies to make a rainbow. This ended up taking a little longer than I expected, so do it with a friend or while watching a movie!

Next you’ll want to number each block from 1 to 54. You can have fun with this by doing different handwriting styles or even writing out the numbers in words.

Next just print out these free printables for whichever game you want to play (you can print them either double sided or onto two pages). Fill in all the blanks (suggestions below) and then grab a friend and play some Jenga! Feel free to repeat some ideas across multiple blocks if you can’t think of 54 different ones, and customize it for your and your friends.

PLEASE ONLY PLAY THIS VERSION IF YOU ARE OF AGE TO LEGALLY DRINK AND PLEASE DRINK RESPONSIBLY.

Download Get Drunk With Jenga:

Suggestions: take a shot, pick someone to finish their drink, everyone takes a sip, drink from the person next to you’s cup, take a mystery shot while blindfolded

Download Jenga Truth or Dare:

Truth Suggestions: Who is the last person you kissed? What’s your most embarrassing moment? Who was your first crush?
Dare Suggestions: let somebody post a tweet to your account, send a Snapchat to the first person in your address book, remove an article of clothing
To play Jenga Truth or Dare, just pick either Truth or Dare before your turn starts. Then whichever number you get, you have to to the corresponding Truth or Dare.

Liam and I had so much fun making these, and they’re such fun party games, whether it’s a study party or an exercise party (do those exist?) or just a normal Friday night party. The great thing about these games is that you only need one set of Jenga and then you can switch it up as much as you want by printing out these sheets multiple times and writing different things on each one.

(I may have been rushing a bit for the video and got paint all over the front of the pieces. If you do this, try to be neater than me!)

Be sure to stay tuned all week long for videos from me every single day. I have Back to School DIY videos on HGTV Handmade on Wednesday and Friday and collab videos on my channel Tuesday and Thursday. I hope you’re not sick of my face yet, and I’ll see you again tomorrow!
