Today I’m so excited to tell you guys about a new project I’m involved in, Wonderly! This is a new program by the YouTube network Big Frame, and it brings together tons of your favorite women on YouTube. I had the opportunity to design the Wonderly logo, so I wanted to take you guys through a bit of the design process and also share some photos from the summit we had in LA in December!
This is the inspiration board I put together with Rachel and Megan from Big Frame when we were first thinking about the logo back in October. We wanted it to feel very girly, but also empowering and fun. From the beginning we knew we wanted the color scheme of seafoam green and pink, though I went through a lot of different versions of the logo that included a glasses silhouette, different kinds of typefaces, some handwriting elements, and all kinds of different stuff before we decided on the scripty hearty version you can see on the website below.
I only designed the logo, not any other parts of the website, but I still wanted to share the design because I think it came out beautifully. The doodles in the header and across the site are by Emily (emilythebravee), another YouTube vlogger and Wonderly lady, and even though we didn’t work directly with each other, I love how our styles mesh so well together.
I also put together an icon version of the logo that can be seen on the Wonderly Twitter and Tumblr, which you should all be following!
As I mentioned above, in December a big group of the Wonderlings all got together in LA for a weekend of presentations, photoshoots, video shoots, scavenger hunts, and just getting to know each other. It was so fun, and I had only previously known about half the girls who were there, so it was really cool getting to know even more YouTube friends in a setting that wasn’t quite as crazy as VidCon. If you don’t know everyone in this photo, you can find everyone’s links on the Channels page of the Wonderly website!
Above you can see Alexa and I at the video and photo shoot. I’m so excited for the promo video to come out, and I’ll definitely be talking about it on Twitter when it does!
I feel so lucky to be a part of Wonderly with such talented, inspiring women, and I hope you guys are as excited about this as I am! Thanks so much for reading!
