I’m so excited to share a new Harry Potter DIY today, especially since I made it in support of the Harry Potter Alliance! The Project for Awesome is going on right now, which is a charity event where tons of YouTubers make videos about their favorite charities. Just like last year when I made a Monster Book of Monsters while talking about the Library Foundation of LA, this year I decided to make Harry Potter Christmas Ornaments while talking about The Harry Potter Alliance.
This is the first time that I haven’t been involved in the design or planning of the Project for Awesome in several years, but I still wanted to make a video. I’ve loved the Harry Potter Alliance since they first started, and I’m so happy I got to feature their Neville Fights Back Campaign and the Granger Leadership Academy.
In terms of the DIYs, I think the mini Hogwarts letter is my favorite. I made the pattern by adapting this DIY from the blog 10 Digit Design. You can download the miniature pattern here.
I also love these Quidditch player ornaments. Once I made the pattern by Photoshopping out the broomstick from movie stills, it was just a matter of cutting them out and gluing them onto these mini broomsticks that I bought at Michaels.
And finally, I made this Daily Prophet ornament by cutting the pattern into strips and gluing them around a plain ornament. This was actually a last-minute idea after my first idea was a major craft fail, but I love how it came out!
Thank you so much for reading, and be sure to watch the full video on YouTube to learn all about the Harry Potter Alliance. If you want to share these projects, I also put up a sharable cut of the video on my Facebook page. Happy Project for Awesome, and Happy Holidays!
