Designing the background art for the John Green box set is still one of my favorite freelance projects I’ve ever done, and now Penguin has released a paperback box set using a new version of my artwork. I didn’t know they had released this until recently, but when I found out, I immediately went onto Amazon and ordered one for myself. Keep reading for more photos!
When I first designed the box set, I sent them several different color schemes to pick from. Originally they only used the black background with blue and white designs, but for the paperback box set they went with the blue background with light blue and white designs. You can see some of the other color schemes I experimented with in my blog post about the original box set design.
With the addition of this new box set, I think my John Green book collection might be getting a little out of control. And I still have the Project for Awesome-themed TFioS on the way!
My friends can testify that I still look up my name in the acknowledgments of TFioS and on the bottom of the box set whenever I see them in a store.
I’m so glad that Penguin liked my design enough to keep using it in the new box set, and if you see it anywhere else, please let me know! In the meantime, you can see my blog post about designing the original box set right here, and if you want to see more John Green merch designed by me, you can check out the new TFioS and LFA bookplates right here. Thanks so much for reading, and DFTBA!
